Account Deletion and Data Retention
Last updated: 26 October 2026
1. How to delete your account
In the Mewvie app: Profile → Edit profile → Delete account. You do not need to write to us. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone; every browser and device signed in to it is signed out.
If you are the only owner of an organisation account that still has libraries or videos, deletion is refused until you either add another owner or delete them: otherwise nobody would be left to pay for those videos or delete them.
If you cannot sign in, write to [email protected] from your account's email address and we will delete it for you.
2. How to delete videos and libraries
Delete a video, a track or a poster in the dashboard, the app or through the API: its files are removed from storage at once and it stops playing. A library can be deleted once it has no videos; its API keys stop working with it.
3. What deleting your account removes
Your email address, password, sign-in with Apple or Google, two-factor secret and recovery codes, your membership of every organisation account, your sessions and notification token. What remains is an empty record with no name, email or way to sign in, so that the transactions and purchases it made still add up.
4. What is kept, and why
- The organisation's data. Libraries and videos belong to the organisation account, not to the person who uploaded them, and stay with its other members.
- Accounting records — the balance, transactions and store purchases, for as long as accounting and tax law requires.
- Abuse records — where content was reported or taken down, a minimal record so the matter can be finished and the same abuse cannot immediately return.
- Backups — deletion applies to the live system at once; backups roll over on their own schedule and are not restored into service in the meantime.
5. All the retention periods in one place
The complete table is in section 7 of our Privacy Policy.
